DELE is the official diploma of Spanish as a foreign language, granted by the Instituto Cervantes on behalf of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training of Spain.
Its levels (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1, C2) align with the standards established by the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) and certify the candidate's language proficiency on a global scale. Additionally, the DELE diploma has indefinite validity and is internationally recognized.
It is a way to officially certify your Spanish language proficiency through recognition by the Instituto Cervantes, making it valid worldwide. DELE diplomas are widely recognized in both professional and academic fields. In fact, some universities and companies require it as an essential qualification. Moreover, they have the advantage of being valid indefinitely.
The DELE is also one of the requirements for obtaining Spanish nationality
Where is the DELE exam taken?
The DELE exams are held at Instituto Cervantes centers and in its extensive network of examination centers, which total over 1,000 in more than 100 countries.
Not all centers participate in every exam session or offer all exam levels, so it’s important to check which centers offer the exams at your desired level and the dates they are available.
According to the Instituto Cervantes, if you want to register, you can do so in two ways:
Online, through this portal, in the case of candidates in Spain (for all levels except school).
At each examination centre, in the case of DELE exams to be taken outside Spain.
How to prepare for the DELE exam?
There is no official method, nor is it mandatory to enroll in any specific course, although it is highly recommended that, either through private or group classes, you prepare yourself with a professional.
The ideal is to prepare yourself with a professional specialized in the subject, who knows the evaluation criteria well and who has extensive experience in teaching Spanish as a foreign language.
If you decide to prepare for the DELE exam with me, we will adapt the classes so that you get the most out of learning, we will work on the different skills required in the exam and you will practice the grammar and vocabulary necessary to reach the level, always focusing on you, in a personalized way.
In addition, you will be able to practice for the oral test by doing simulations very similar to the exam, since I myself am accredited as a DELE examiner by the Instituto Cervantes for levels A1, A2, B1 and B2.
